Here are some photos of my best friend’s daughter Erin.  Isn’t she the cutest, with a huge mop of hair!  Hmmm, she’ll never have my problem of limp fine hair.

Erin was keen to have some coloured hair extensions put in, so I added a Purple/Light Pink one underneath, which you can see in the photos and another one on top but I’ve braided it into the French braid.  I then sectioned the hair into 5 jagged parts and French braided.  I incorporated coloured hair extensions into the French braids.  I chose to French braid and not cornrow (outside French braid) as I’m not that experienced in cornrows and with the thickness of

Erin’s hair, it was easier to French braid.  I then finished off by plaiting the 5 French braids and secured with a beaded hair band.  A beaded hair band is easy to make and adds that “Bling” factor to your hairstyle.  To create a beaded hair band, all you need is a piece of elastic and some beads.  A little glitter hairspray was used to finish off this masterpiece.

Thought I’d try something different for a change.  Instead of finishing off piggyback braids with an Afro Puff, I attached colourful hair extensions.  From the 8 sections of piggyback braids, I split the hair into 3 or 4 sections and attached the hair extensions by braiding them in.  In the photos, you can see the piggyback braids had been in for a few days, by all the fuzzies that had already escaped.  The braids are decorated with Princess Hearts, Glitter Barrel Beads and Pastel Snaps.  For the piggyback braids, I’ve used snagless bands which are available from the shops.  Occasionally a band might break, over the duration of the style, but I usually manage to knot the band back together again.
